In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Great Lakes escaped with a 4-2 victory over Texas. Great Lakes gained the winning advantage on a goal by Sean Murphy 13:49 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. Mitch Kontny had a great game for Great Lakes, netting two goals. Kontny found the back of the net 2:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Great Lakes and again while 19:13 into the third to make the score 4-2 Great Lakes. With 47 shots on target during the contest, Great Lakes exceeded the 42.0 shots it averages per game this year. Great Lakes also got points from Murphy, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Great Lakes also got a goal from Cody Gylling as well. More assists for Great Lakes came via Casey Nelson, Andrew McDonald, Martin Gruse, Tyler Dunagan, and Rick DeRosa, who each chipped in one. Texas made Great Lakes' goaltenders to work between the pipes, firing 43 shots and forcing 41 saves. Max Milosek made 22 stops and Trevor Gorsuch made 19. Texas could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Texas puts an average of 4.7 pucks into the net per game. Texas was helped by Wayland Williams, who registered one goal. Williams scored 14:40 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Texas. Omar Mullan provided the assist. Jackson Leef also scored for Texas. In addition, Texas received assists from Gage Christianson, Lawrence Cornellier, and Zane Popilock, who contributed one a piece. Great Lakes avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of zero power plays. Hayden Stewart made 26 saves before being replaced by Paul Berrafato, who took the loss and made 17 saves. Texas ended with no penalties and went 0-for-0 on the power play.
