Frontier uses big second period to beat Midwest, 9-3

Frontier scored three goals in the second period to pull away from Midwest and clinch a 9-3 win.

Frontier got the win with help from a great game by Chris Kerr, who had one goal and two assists. Kerr scored 11:47 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Frontier. Max McHugh picked up the assist.

Frontier bested its season scoring average. Frontier averages 6.0 goals per game. The defensemen of Frontier were also effective in Midwest's zone, and came away with two goals. By firing 64 shots on goal, Frontier exceeded the 56.0 shots it averages per game this year.

Frontier also got points from McHugh, who also tallied one goal and four assists to lead the team in points, Blake Roubos, who also had one goal and two assists, Zac Lazzaro, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Zack Rall, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Nick Hinz also scored for Frontier. In addition, Frontier received assists from Ryan Walker, who had two and Jacob Barber, Brad Duwe, Mike Parnell, Joe Sullivan, Dan Sherer, and Matt Salituro, who contributed one a piece.

Midwest averages 40.5 shots on goal per game, but only sent 29 pucks on net against Frontier.

Midwest was helped by Brandon Brossoit, who registered one goal. Brossoit scored 8:51 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Mac Jansen assisted on the tally. Midwest also got a goal from Cory Lushanko as well. More assists for Midwest came via Taylor Burden and Kyle Gattelaro, who each chipped in one.

Macauley Haight made 26 saves for Frontier on 29 shots. Frontier finished the contest with no penalties and went 0-for-2 with the man advantage. Spencer Viele rejected 55 shots on goal for Midwest. Midwest incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities.
