Texas survives Frontier comeback, wins 5-3

Frontier tried to dig itself out of a four-goal hole, but Texas held on for a 5-3 victory.

Texas took a 5-1 lead during the third period, only to have Frontier storm back on a Noah Nelson goal 16:40 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

Lawrence Cornellier had a great game for Texas, netting two goals. Cornellier scored at 12:02 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Texas and again while 5:13 into the third to make the score 2-0 Texas.

Texas' offense rang up 49 shots on Frontier's net. Texas did not rack up many penalties in the contest, tallying only one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Texas also got points from Kyle Bauman, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Texas also got a goal from Conor ONeil as well. More assists for Texas came via Justin Greenberg, who had two and Michael Hoy, Gage Christianson, Eliot Grauer, Mike Davis, and Zane Popilock, who contributed one a piece.

Frontier forced Texas' goaltenders to work without much rest, taking 48 shots and forcing 45 saves. Hayden Stewart made 24 stops and Paul Berrafato made 21.

Brad Duwe also scored for Frontier. In addition, Frontier received assists from Ryan Walker, Chris Kerr, Matt Seidel, Zack Rall, and Matt Salituro, who each chipped in one.

Texas registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities. Frontier's Tyler Parks stopped 44 shots out of the 49 that he faced. Frontier avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of one power plays.
