Mike Fazio scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and Midwest picked up the extra point in a 4-3 win over NAHL 18 Selects.

The shootout lasted for 12 attempts between the teams. NAHL 18 Selects' shootout goals were scored by Brandon Hawkins and Brian Williams. Midwest's other shootout goals were scored by Kyle Gattelaro and Brett Skibba.

Brock Kautz frustrated NAHL 18 Selects' offense all game, and stopped 25 shots en route to a shutout.

Midwest managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Midwest ended up below its season average of 3.0 penalty minutes per game. Midwest put 52 shots on net during the contest, more than the 40.5 it averages per game.

Midwest was led by Fazio, who finished with one goal and one assist. Fazio scored on the power play 19:13 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Midwest. Midwest had taken the advantage when NAHL 18 Selects' Brett Beauvais got sent off for slashing. Trace Strahle assisted on the tally. Midwest also got a goal from Derek Smith as well. In addition, Midwest received assists from Taylor Burden, Skibba, and Luc Boby, who each chipped in one.

With 48 shots on target during the contest, NAHL 18 Selects exceeded the 42.3 shots it averages per game this year.

NAHL 18 Selects was helped by Williams, who had one goal. Williams scored 7:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 NAHL 18 Selects. Tyler Andrew picked up the assist. Hawkins also scored for NAHL 18 Selects. Other players who recorded assists for NAHL 18 Selects were Brady Ferguson and CJ Smith, who contributed one a piece.

Midwest registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Evan Cowley recorded 48 saves for NAHL 18 Selects. NAHL 18 Selects incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
