Harper nets hat trick, leads Delhi to 8-4 win over Norfolk

A hat trick by Travis Harper was the highlight in Travellers' 8-4 win against the Norfolk Rebels.

Harper's first goal came 19:38 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:49 into the second and at 9:02 into the third.

Norfolk's power play was ineffective against the Delhi Travellers' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Delhi's offense rang up 45 shots on the Rebels' net. The Travellers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Delhi averages 4.4 goals per contest.

Delhi also got points from Colin Streutker, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Kelsey Vanyermen, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Derek Friesen, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Jordan Betzold, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Taylor Hockley also scored for Delhi. In addition, Delhi received assists from Justin Plant, who had four and Harrison McRobert, Jeremy Jacobs, and Jamie Newell, who contributed one a piece.

The Travellers were unable to stop Norfolk from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rebels eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Norfolk was helped by Chris Murray, who racked up one goal and one assist. Murray scored short handed 19:40 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Delhi. The Rebels found themselves down a man on Andrew Patenaude's slashing. Norfolk additionally got points from Kurtis Pettitt, who also had one goal and one assist and Steve Parker, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Norfolk also got a goal from Tyler Jones as well. Other players who recorded assists for Norfolk were Michael Almas and Dylan Heaslip, who each chipped in one.

Joe Drexler rejected 28 shots on goal for Delhi. The Travellers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Alex Stephens made 37 saves for Norfolk on 45 shots. The Rebels incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. For Norfolk, Kent Wardell and Ryan Oatway were ejected from the contest.
