Breckenridge/Wahpeton blows out Baldwin-Woodville, 5-0

The Breckenridge/Wahpeton Blades had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-0 win over Baldwin-Woodville.

Tyler Gripentrog had two goals to lead Breckenridge/Wahpeton to victory. Gripentrog's tallies came on the power play at 10:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Breckenridge/Wahpeton and 14:40 into the third to make the score 4-0 Breckenridge/Wahpeton.

The Blades' penalty kill excelled, as Breckenridge/Wahpeton gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Blades stifled Baldwin-Woodville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Baldwin-Woodville was unable to stop Breckenridge/Wahpeton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Blades eventually piled up 51 shots on goal. Breckenridge/Wahpeton outdid its season average for goals scored. The Blades have scored at the pace of 2.5 goals per game during the current campaign.

Breckenridge/Wahpeton also got points from Austin Hagstrom, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points and Aaron Neppl, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Breckenridge/Wahpeton received assists from Zach Reiff, who had two and Tyler Barth, Elijah Hansen, and Clay Bassingthwaithe, who each chipped in one.

Michael Withuski made 19 saves for Breckenridge/Wahpeton on 19 shots. The Blades incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Dominc Laesser rejected 46 shots on goal for Baldwin-Woodville. Baldwin-Woodville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
