Hibbing / Chisholm survives Mahtomedi comeback, wins 4-3

The Hibbing / Chisholm Bluejackets survived a determined comeback attempt by the Mahtomedi Zephyers on the way to a 4-3 win.

A goal by Ty Birdsall put Hibbing / Chisholm up 4-0 in the second period, but Mahtomedi pulled to within one on Mac Rathmanner's tally 16:18 into the third period.

The Bluejackets' offense was clicking better than usual and put 28 shots on goal during the game, better than the 1.1 shot per game they average.

Hibbing / Chisholm was helped by Eric Riihinen, who grabbed one goal. Riihinen scored 13:58 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Hibbing / Chisholm. Adam Johnson provided the assist. Hibbing / Chisholm also got points from Johnson, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Hibbing / Chisholm came via Cole Schafer, Josh Bestul, and Colten Perkins, who contributed one a piece and Derek Abrahamson and Eric Gotz, who each chipped in two.

The Zephyers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Hibbing / Chisholm power plays.

Jake Erickson also scored for Mahtomedi. In addition, Mahtomedi received assists from Trevor Keeney, Truman Slack, and Matt Bonine, who contributed one a piece.

Tyler Carlson rejected 23 shots on goal for the Bluejackets. Hibbing / Chisholm incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Colin Denis recorded 24 saves for Mahtomedi. The Zephyers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
