St. Thomas Academy holds on for 2-1 win against Breck SchoolRidder Arena Thu, Dec 27, 2012 The Breck School Mustangs tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the St. Thomas Academy Cadets would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1. St. Thomas Academy took a 2-0 lead during the second period, only to have Breck School storm back on a Jack O''Connor goal 14:36 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Cadets were paced by Christiano Versich, who finished with one goal. Versich scored on the power play 6:50 into the second period to make the score St. Thomas Academy. A cross checking penalty on Mark Sharp had put St. Thomas Academy on the power play. Tom Novak assisted on the tally. The Cadets did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. St. Thomas Academy puts an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. The Cadets kept the Mustangs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Henry Johnson made 31 saves on 33 shots. St. Thomas Academy also got a goal from Matt Perry as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Thomas Academy were Jack Dougherty, Tony Bretzman, and Jack Stang, who each chipped in one. Breck School could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Mustangs average 4.3 goals per game. Conor Murphy recorded 17 saves for St. Thomas Academy. The Cadets incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Breck School totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
