Hill-Murray blows out Burnsville, 7-2

The Burnsville Blaze had trouble finding ways to stop the Hill-Murray Pioneers, which beat Blaze, 7-2.

Hill-Murray got the win thanks to a great game by Mitch Slattery, who had one goal and two assists. Slattery scored 9:36 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Hill-Murray.

The Pioneers managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Hill-Murray wound up below its season average of 9.0 penalty minutes per game. The Pioneers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Hill-Murray averages 4.0 goals per contest. The Pioneers' offense was clicking better than usual and put 45 shots on goal during the game, better than the 2.4 shots per game they average.

Hill-Murray also got points from Willie Brown, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Zach LaValle, who also had two goals and one assist. Josh French also scored for Hill-Murray. More assists for Hill-Murray came via Colten Greeder, who had two, Ryan Black, who had three, and Dustin Krueger, Zach Mills, and Sam Becker, who each chipped in one.

Burnsville put 22 shots on net during the contest, more than the 1.3 it averages per game.

John Dugas made 20 saves for Hill-Murray on 22 shots. The Pioneers registered one goal on three power play opportunities. The Blaze took out Chris Mallon after he had made 21 saves and installed Nic Anderson in goal, where he finished with 17 saves and the loss. Burnsville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
