Roseville wins tough contest against Academy of Holy Angels, 5-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Roseville Raiders escaped with a 5-3 victory over the Academy of Holy Angels Stars.

Roseville gained the winning advantage on a goal by Colton Brauesen 3:44 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Brauesen was all over the ice for the Raiders, as he tallied two goals in the win.

Roseville forced Academy of Holy Angels goalie Nik Schmitz to work between the pipes, taking 49 shots. The Raiders had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on 10 chances. Roseville could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

Roseville also had goals scored by Andrerw Colvard, who had one and Ross Stecklein, who had two. In addition, Roseville received assists from Alex Brauesen, who had two and Tony Arias and Ryan Larson, who contributed one a piece.

The the Stars penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 10 minors and one major for 25 minutes in penalty time. Academy of Holy Angels surpassed its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. The defensemen of the Stars were also effective in the Raiders' zone, and came away with two goals. Academy of Holy Angels put 34 shots on net during the contest, more than the 2.3 it averages per game.

The Stars were helped by Ben Haeg, who had one goal. Haeg scored on the power play 6:40 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Roseville. Academy of Holy Angels had gotten the advantage when Roseville's Pearcy Marks was sent off for holding. Mario Bianchi provided the assist. Academy of Holy Angels additionally got points from Frankie Mork, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Tony Haeg also scored for Academy of Holy Angels. Other players who recorded assists for Academy of Holy Angels were Joe Sullivan, Owen Larson, and Marshall Barnes, who each chipped in one.

Quinn Huff rejected 31 shots on goal for the Raiders. Schmitz recorded 44 saves for the Stars. Academy of Holy Angels registered two goals on seven power play opportunities.
