The Marshall Tigers and the Winona Winhawks skate to 3-3 (OT) tieSchwan SR-2 Thu, Dec 27, 2012 Marshall rebounded from a three-goal deficit to tie Winona, 3-3 (OT). The Tigers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Winona power plays. Marshall kept the Winhawks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Andrew Yeske made 37 saves on 40 shots. The defensemen of the Tigers were also effective in Winona's zone, and came away with two goals. Marshall was helped by Corey Clark, who tallied one goal. Clark scored 1:41 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Winona. Leo Zerr picked up the assist. Marshall also got a goal from Brent Haukom as well. Other players who recorded assists for Marshall were Quinn Horvath, Tyler Untiedt, and Levi Hedman, who each chipped in one. The the Winhawks penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 11.0 minutes per game Winona had been spending in the box. The Winhawks forced the Tigers goalie Masion Campion to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Winona was helped by Alex Johnson, who had one goal. Johnson scored 3:16 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Winona. Issiah Sorvaag provided the assist. Skyler Grossell also scored for Winona. More assists for Winona came via Alex Rickoff, Nick Arnold, and Michael Lubahn, who contributed one a piece. Campion rejected 29 shots on goal for Marshall. The Tigers totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-8 on the power play.
