Rogers downs St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Rogers Royals' Travis Brown scored 6:43 into overtime to beat the St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad Spartans, 5-4 (OT).

St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad could not complete its climb out of a two-goal hole. Rogers made the score 3-1 on a goal by Nate Weber at 14:54 in the second period. The Spartans pulled to within 3-2 on a goal by Jared Mickelson at 27 seconds in the third period.

The Royals stifled St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Rogers forced the Spartans goalie Nick Anderson to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

Rogers also got points from Weber, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Jacob Walker also scored for Rogers. In addition, Rogers received assists from Alexander Lorman, who had three and Jason Roberge, Matt Hellickson, and Brandon Spah, who each chipped in one.

St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Rogers power plays. The Spartans' defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad is averaging 2.1 goals against for the season.

Blake Ternus made 26 saves for the Royals on 30 shots. Rogers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Anderson rejected 35 shots on goal for the Spartans. St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
