Christman's hat trick boosts Minneapolis over North Branch, 11-0

Henry Christman lifted the Minneapolis Novas to an 11-0 victory with a hat trick against the North Branch Vikings.

Christman's first goal came 3:07 into the first period. He then added goals at 6:26 into the first and at 6:10 into the third.

Minneapolis led 4-0 after the opening frame the first period and maintained a healthy margin after.

The Novas managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Minneapolis finished below its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. The Novas was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. Minneapolis gives up 2.9 goals on average per game. North Branch was unable to stop the Novas from sending pucks towards the net, and Minneapolis eventually piled up 69 shots on goal. The Novas outdid their season average for goals scored. Minneapolis has scored at the pace of 4.2 goals per game during the current campaign. The Novas cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances.

Minneapolis additionally got points from Joe Guimont, who also registered one goal and four assists to lead the team in points. Minneapolis also had goals scored by Peter Hacker, who had four and Jimmy Roth, Robert Adams, and Kyle Helmstetter, who scored one goal each. More assists for Minneapolis came via Tony Pnewski and Grant Miller, who contributed two a piece.

The Vikings did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. North Branch averages 2.3 goals per game. The Vikings did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting five shots on net to force five saves.

Erik Toftner recorded five saves for Minneapolis. North Branch's Tyler Byrkit stopped 58 shots out of the 69 that he faced. The Vikings incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
