Princeton falls to Sartell-St.Stephen in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

The Sartell-St.Stephen Sabres' Kyle Erickson scored 4:36 into overtime to beat the Princeton Tigers, 6-5 (OT).

Sartell-St.Stephen overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Sabres fell behind 4-2 after a goal by Princeton's Jordan Forschen at 6:20 in the second period. Sartell-St.Stephen tied things up at 5-5 on a goal by Ethan Lorsung at 6:18 in the third period.

Sam Zwiener had one goal and five assists to lead the Sabres. Zwiener scored 8:08 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Princeton.

Sartell-St.Stephen surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Sabres average 3.4 goals per contest.

Sartell-St.Stephen also got points from Erickson, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Lorsung, who also had one goal and one assist, and Aaron Randall, who also registered one goal and one assist. Matthew Ringhand also scored for Sartell-St.Stephen. Other players who recorded assists for Sartell-St.Stephen were Tyler Minkel, who had one.

The Tigers' offense operated below they season average. Princeton puts an average of 7.1 pucks into the net per game. The Tigers kept Sartell-St.Stephen's goalie busy throughout the game, and Elliott Brookins made 28 saves on 33 shots. Princeton's normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. The Tigers average 2.5 goals allowed per game.

Princeton was helped by Chase Lindenfelser, who racked up two goals and one assist. Lindenfelser scored the first of his two goals at 3:23 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Princeton. Jake Green provided the assist. Lindenfelser's next tally made the score 5-4 Princeton with 5:13 left in the second period. Daniel Voce picked up the assist. Princeton additionally got points from Green, who also grabbed one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Princeton also got a goal from Cam Paulson as well. More assists for Princeton came via Collin Buness, who had one.

The Sabres incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Tigers' Max Mattson stopped 20 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Princeton incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
