Talarico's hat trick boosts Duluth Denfeld over Rosemount, 4-1Duluth Heritage Sports Arena Fri, Dec 28, 2012 A hat trick by Levi Talarico was the highlight in Hunters' 4-1 win against the Rosemount Irish. Talarico's first goal came 16:47 into the first period. He then added goals at 13:15 into the third and at 16:57 into the third.Rosemount was stymied by the Duluth Denfeld Hunters netminder Zach Thompson, who stopped 27 shots during the victory. The solid play of Thompson will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.75. The 28 shots that Duluth Denfeld put on net surpassed the Hunters' average of 0.2 shots per game this season. Duluth Denfeld also got a goal from Trey Opack as well. In addition, Duluth Denfeld received assists from Alex Thomspon, Reid Lemker, and Nick Thompson, who contributed one a piece. The Irish put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Duluth Denfeld to score on any of its four power plays. Rosemount was held below its usual level of production. The Irish put an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. Rosemount was led by Anthony Winters, who scored the team's only goal. Winters scored on the power play 16:12 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Irish earned a power play opportunity when Matthew Mattila was put in the box for interference. Ryan Foley provided the assist. The Hunters incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Austin Leslie recorded 24 saves for Rosemount. The Irish incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
