Jones leads Elk River over Moorhead, 8-3

Peter Jones was all over the ice for the Elk River Elks, as he tallied two goals and two assists in Elk River's 8-3 win over the Moorhead Spuds.

Jones' tallies came at 1:37 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Elk River and 6:02 into the third to make the score 5-3 Elk River.

The 21 shots that the Elks put on net surpassed Elk River's average of 7.8 shots per game this season. The Elks outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Elk River averages 3.5 goals per contest.

Elk River also got points from Jacob Jaremko, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Andrew Zerban, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Elk River also had goals scored by Ben Johnson, who had one and Chase Springman, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Elk River were Jack Geissler, Colton Budreau, Isaac Schwab, and Reggie Lutz, who contributed one a piece and Tim Sandford, Austin Larson, and Wyatt Ege, who each chipped in two.

Moorhead's offense was clicking better than usual and put 19 shots on goal during the game, better than the 2.5 shots per game it averages.

The Spuds were helped by Jacob Odegard, who had one goal. Odegard scored 12:39 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Elk River. Jayden Masseth assisted on the tally. Aaron Herdt also scored for Moorhead. More assists for Moorhead came via Grant Weiss, Thomas Carey, and Dom Heazlot, who contributed one a piece.

MacLean Berglove recorded 16 saves for the Elks. Elk River incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Peter MacFarlane made 13 saves for Moorhead on 21 shots. The Spuds incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
