Blaine falls to Edina in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Edina Hornets pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Blaine Bengals on a clutch goal by Andy Jordahl.

Although Edina was up by as many as two goals in the first period, Blaine kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Bengals got to within 2-1 on a goal by Jesse Norling at 2:38 in the third period.

The Hornets were paced by Jordahl, who racked up one goal and one assist. Jordahl scored 8:00 into overtime to make the score 3-2 Edina. Bo Brauer picked up the assist.

By firing 31 shots on goal, Edina exceeded the 14.7 shots it averages per game this year.

Edina also got points from Cullen Munson, who also had one goal and one assist. Edina also got a goal from Miguel Fidler as well. In addition, Edina received assists from Ben Foley, Cullen Raasch, and Dan Hinueber, who each chipped in one.

Blaine did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Bengals average 4.2 goals per game. With 16 shots on target during the contest, Blaine exceeded the 2.3 shots it averages per game this year.

The Bengals were helped by Ian Scheid, who registered one goal. Scheid scored 16:59 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Norling assisted on the tally. Blaine additionally got points from Norling, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Blaine were Mac Nadeau, Tyler Cline, and Jack Micek, who contributed one a piece.

Andrew Rohkohl rejected 14 shots on goal for the Hornets. Edina incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Andrew Houle recorded 28 saves for Blaine. The Bengals totaled 27 minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
