Huge game by Thorsteinson boosts Kittson Central over Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson, 9-6Hippodrome/White Bear Lake Sat, Dec 29, 2012 Carson Thorsteinson had two goals and two assists to lead the Kittson Central Wolfpack to a 9-6 victory over the Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson Mustangs. Thorsteinson scored at 3:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kittson Central and again while 11:08 into the second to make the score 9-4 Kittson Central.Kittson Central pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 18 penalty minutes. The Wolfpack put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson to score on any of its six power plays. Kittson Central's offense rang up 45 shots on the Mustangs' net. The Wolfpack outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Kittson Central averages 5.3 goals per contest. The Wolfpack's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Kittson Central additionally got points from Zach Gatheridge, who also registered one goal and one assist, Dalton Klegstad, who also tallied two goals and one assist, and Billy Thorsteinson, who also had one goal and one assist. Kittson Central also had goals scored by Alex Strege, who had one and Joey Pastir, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Kittson Central were Anders Lindegard, who had two and Kyle Petersburg, Jordan Rynning, Nick Kasprowicz, and Blair Younggren, who each chipped in one. Mora/Hinkley-Finlayson forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up five minors and two majors for 20 minutes in penalty time. Kittson Central registered zero goals on nine power play opportunities. Jake Libra made 36 saves for the Mustangs on 45 shots.
