Huge game by Talarico boosts Duluth Denfeld over Detroit Lakes, 9-3Duluth Heritage Sports Arena Thu, Dec 27, 2012 Behind a great game by Levi Talarico, who had four goals and one assist, the Duluth Denfeld Hunters defeated the Detroit Lakes Lakers, 9-3. Talarico got on the scoresheet 10:01 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:44 into the second, at 12:37 into the third, and at 16:18 into the third.Duluth Denfeld excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Hunters surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Duluth Denfeld averages 5.2 goals per game. The Hunters' offense was clicking better than usual and put 45 shots on goal during the game, better than the 0.2 shots per game they average. Duluth Denfeld additionally got points from Reid Lemker, who also registered two goals and two assists and Patrick Potswald, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Duluth Denfeld also got a goal from Alex Thomspon as well. In addition, Duluth Denfeld received assists from Nick Thompson, who had three and Wyatt Wutz, Trey Opack, and Wes Cook, who each chipped in one. Duluth Denfeld's defense shut down Detroit Lakes' forwards for much of the game, and the Lakers got off only 13 shots during the contest. Detroit Lakes struggled on the penalty kill, allowing the Hunters to score two power play goals on three chances. The Lakers were led by Taylor Magnusson, who finished with one goal and one assist. Magnusson scored 1:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Detroit Lakes. Casey Paskey assisted on the tally. Jacob Fritz also scored for Detroit Lakes. More assists for Detroit Lakes came via Brandon Olson, Austin Rusness, and Brady Crawford, who contributed one a piece. Duluth Denfeld's Cook stopped 10 shots out of the 13 that he faced. The Hunters incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For Duluth Denfeld, Thomspon was ejected from the game. MacKenzie Steele rejected 36 shots on goal for Detroit Lakes. The Lakers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
