Damsgard's big game bests Rochester Century in 6-2 Park of Cottage Grove win

The Park of Cottage Grove Wolfpack's Russel Damsgard had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 6-2 win over the Rochester Century Panthers.

Damsgard found the back of the net on the power play 5:28 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Park of Cottage Grove and again while 5:54 into the third to make the score 4-2 Park of Cottage Grove.

Rochester Century was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as Park of Cottage Grove was able to score four times while on the power play.

The Wolfpack's goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Park of Cottage Grove averages 2.8 goals per contest. The Wolfpack got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Park of Cottage Grove also got points from Christopher Peterson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Nicholas Moser, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Park of Cottage Grove also got a goal from Jake Young as well. More assists for Park of Cottage Grove came via Alex Kielsa, who had one and Cody Newton, who had two.

The Panthers were helped by Mitchell Hoover, who registered one goal. Hoover scored 15:20 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Samuel Batterson picked up the assist. Hayden Ashworth also scored for Rochester Century. In addition, Rochester Century received assists from Matthew Sturchio and Dalton Travis, who each chipped in one.

Kyle Strand recorded 20 saves for Park of Cottage Grove. The Wolfpack ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. Park of Cottage Grove ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nickolas Perry was ejected from the game. Eric Rohleder made 24 saves for Rochester Century on 30 shots. The Panthers totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. For Rochester Century, Travis was ejected from the game.
