Holy Family Catholic survives Rochester Lourdes comeback, wins 4-2Victoria Thu, Jan 24, 2013 The Holy Family Catholic Fire came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Rochester Lourdes Eagles, but did just enough to escape with a 4-2 victory. Holy Family Catholic led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Fire's Jonh Peterson's scored short handed at 11:13 in the second period to put Holy Family Catholic up 3-0. Shane Gersich had two goals and one assist to lead the Fire. Gersich scored the first of his two goals at 15:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Holy Family Catholic. Peterson assisted on the tally. Gersich's next tally made the score 2-0 Holy Family Catholic with 17:09 left in the second period. Garret Riebling picked up the assist. By firing 29 shots on goal, Holy Family Catholic exceeded the 2.5 shots it averages per game this year. Holy Family Catholic additionally got points from Riebling, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Peterson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Holy Family Catholic received assists from Matt Runyon, Joey Marooney, and Max Mork, who contributed one a piece. Rochester Lourdes did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Eagles average 4.2 goals per game. Rochester Lourdes was helped by Karl Krecke, who racked up one goal. Krecke scored on the power play 12:38 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Holy Family Catholic. The Eagles had taken the advantage when the Fire's Peterson got sent off for cross checking. The Fire totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Andrew Ellingson made 25 saves for Rochester Lourdes on 29 shots. The Eagles totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
