Ben Torchia scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Toledo Cherokee picked up the extra point in a 4-3 (1-0 SO) win over the Flint Jr. Generals. The two teams needed nine turns to complete the shootout.Toledo came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Cherokee fell behind 3-1 after a goal by Flint's Jayson Lottes at 6:03 in the second period. Toledo knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Jordan Prewitt at 16:40 in the third period. Prewitt had two goals to lead the Cherokee to victory. Toledo also got a goal from Jordan Fogarty as well. Other players who recorded assists for Toledo were Tyler Zalecki, who had two and Donnie Nagle, Connor Crowe, and Brandon Layman, who each chipped in one. The Jr. Generals forced Toledo goalie Nate Gay to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Adrain Larsson also scored for Flint. In addition, Flint received assists from Nicholas Goetel, who had two and Alex Compean and Jacob Howie, who contributed one a piece. Nate Gay made 30 saves for the Cherokee on 33 shots. Toledo incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Anders Franke rejected 25 shots on goal for Flint. The Jr. Generals incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
