Michigan's comeback falls short, Metro wins 6-4

The Metro Jets came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Michigan Mountain Cats, but did just enough to escape with a 6-4 victory.

Metro led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Jets' Matt Stirling's scored at 3:35 in the second period to put Metro up 4-1.

The Jets excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Metro forced Michigan goalie Spencer Craig to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. The Jets bested their season scoring average. Metro has scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign.

The Jets were led by Kyle Shreve, who registered two goals. Shreve scored the first of his two goals at 6:24 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Shreve's next tally made the score 3-1 Metro with 18:14 left in the second period. Michael Lawrence assisted on the tally. Metro also got points from Andrew Palushaj, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Stirling, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Doug Andrews also scored for Metro. In addition, Metro received assists from Zach Mac Kay and Mike Gambino, who contributed one a piece.

The Mountain Cats put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Metro to score on any of its four power plays. Michigan kept the Jets' goalie busy throughout the game, and Riley Corbin made 31 saves on 35 shots.

The Mountain Cats were led by Adam Morrison, who had two goals. Morrison scored the first of his two goals at 6:40 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Metro. Austin Sartorius picked up the assist. Morrison's next tally made the score 4-4 with 3:02 left in the second period. Sartorius assisted on the tally. Michigan also got a goal from Guy Soulliere as well. Other players who recorded assists for Michigan were Kade Morrison, who had two and Eric Keljo, Christopher Williams, and Marshall Helton, who each chipped in one.

Metro incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Spencer Craig made 33 saves for Michigan on 38 shots. The Mountain Cats incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
