The Waconia Wildcats tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Delano/Rockford Tigers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

A goal by Eric Ylitalo put Delano/Rockford up 3-1 in the third period, but Waconia pulled to within one on Ryan Mattson's tally 16:35 into the third period.

In the losing effort, the Wildcats were led by Mattson, who finished with two goals. Mattson scored the first of his two goals at 2:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Waconia. Kevin Kittleson assisted on the tally. Mattson's next tally made the score 3-2 Delano/Rockford with 3:25 left in the third period.

The Tigers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Waconia was unable to stop Delano/Rockford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Tigers eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Delano/Rockford also got a goal from Hunter Hart as well. In addition, Delano/Rockford received assists from Levi Peterson, who had one.

The Wildcats forced Delano/Rockford goalie Aaron Grangroth to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

The Tigers' Grangroth stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Delano/Rockford totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Nathan Kovach made 31 saves for Waconia on 34 shots. The Wildcats incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
