Apple Valley completes comeback, beats Park of Cottage Grove, 3-2

The Apple Valley Eagles climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Park of Cottage Grove Wolfpack, 3-2.

Apple Valley never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Eagles fell behind 2-0 after a power play goal by Park of Cottage Grove's Christopher Peterson at 3:46 in the first period. Apple Valley tied things up at 2-2 on a power play goal by Mason Preston at 6:23 in the third period. The Eagles got the game winner at 7:50 in the third period on a goal by Preston.

Apple Valley got the win behind a great game by Christian Smith, who had one goal and two assists. Smith scored 9:17 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Park of Cottage Grove. Tyler Heuer assisted on the tally.

Apple Valley also got points from Heuer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Apple Valley were Logan Kohorst and Jacob Smith, who contributed one a piece.

The Wolfpack were helped by Nicholas Moser, who had one goal and one assist. Moser scored 1:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Park of Cottage Grove. Peterson picked up the assist. Park of Cottage Grove additionally got points from Peterson, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Park of Cottage Grove received assists from Eric Stoffel and Alex Kielsa, who each chipped in one.

Mac Wartick made 28 saves for the Eagles on 30 shots. Apple Valley incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Matthew Palmquist rejected 23 shots on goal for Park of Cottage Grove. The Wolfpack totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play.
