A hat trick by Jacob Tretsven was the highlight in Mustangs' 5-1 win against the Park of Cottage Grove Wolfpack.

Tretsven's first goal came 3:20 into the first period. He then added goals at 10:28 into the first and at 10:32 into the second.

The Mounds View Mustangs pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 18 penalty minutes.

Mounds View's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Park of Cottage Grove power plays. The Mustangs' offense was clicking better than usual and put 39 shots on goal during the game, better than the 0.1 shots per game they average.

AJ Rupert also scored for Mounds View. Other players who recorded assists for Mounds View were Ryan Elvidge, who had three and Andrew Bjorklund and Austin Teske, who contributed one a piece.

Park of Cottage Grove was often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and two majors for 32 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 17.0 minutes per game the Wolfpack had been spending in the box.

Park of Cottage Grove was led by Eric Stoffel, who scored the team's only goal. Stoffel scored 10:18 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Mounds View. Cody Newton picked up the assist.

Alek Van Valkenburg recorded 24 saves for Mounds View. The Mustangs registered three goals on six power play opportunities. Kyle Strand made 34 saves for the Wolfpack on 39 shots.
