Somerset WI stifles St. Paul Como Park's comeback, gains 4-2 victory

The St. Paul Como Park Cougars almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but Somerset WI managed to pull out a 4-2 win in the end.

Somerset WI led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Somerset WI's Drew Kelly's scored at 4:32 in the second period to put Somerset WI up 4-1.

Somerset WI got the win on the strength of a great game by Kelly, who had two goals and two assists. Kelly scored the first of his two goals at 2:40 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Somerset WI. Adam Marty picked up the assist. Kelly's next tally made the score Somerset WI with 15:28 left in the second period. Aaron Moore provided the assist.

Somerset WI excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Somerset WI additionally got points from Moore, who also had one goal and one assist and Marty, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Somerset WI were Jesse Brown, who had two.

St. Paul Como Park was helped by Mitch McNamee, who tallied one goal. McNamee scored 10:14 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Somerset WI. Sawyer Scanlon picked up the assist. St. Paul Como Park also got a goal from Toom McCullough as well.

Somerset WI's Jordan Langess stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Somerset WI totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For Somerset WI, Marty was ejected from the game. Ernie Mantel made 23 saves for the Cougars on 27 shots. St. Paul Como Park incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
