Hudson, WI beats St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad 3-2 after comeback scare

The St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad Spartans tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but Hudson, WI would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

Hudson, WI took a 3-0 lead during the first period, only to have St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad storm back on a Peter Wood goal 14:03 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Hudson, WI got the win behind a great game by Daniel Tripicchio, who had two goals and one assist. Tripicchio scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:51 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hudson, WI. Hudson, WI had taken the advantage when the Spartans' Karl Hommeyer got sent off for interference. Emerson Korum assisted on the tally. Tripicchio's next tally on the power play made the score Hudson, WI with 3:34 left in the first period. Wyatt Dove provided the assist.

Hudson, WI put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad to score on any of its five power plays. Hudson, WI forced the Spartans goalie Nick Anderson to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Adam Lipps also scored for Hudson, WI. More assists for Hudson, WI came via Michael Hommes and Parker Shefveland, who contributed one a piece.

St. Paul Academy/Mounds Park Acad was held below its usual level of production. The Spartans put an average of 5.3 pucks into the net per game.
