Somerset WI wins tough contest against Minnehaha Academy, 5-3Mankato All Seasons Arena Sat, Dec 22, 2012 Somerset WI gutted out a close 5-3 win against the Minnehaha Academy Red Hawks. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Adam Marty's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Marty was all over the ice for Somerset WI, as he racked up two goals in the win. Minnehaha Academy was unable to stop Somerset WI from sending pucks towards the net, and Somerset WI eventually piled up 47 shots on goal. Somerset WI additionally got points from Aaron Moore, who also registered one goal and one assist, Reed Baillargon, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Reed Kelly, who also had one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Somerset WI were Iaaac Moore, who had two and Jesse Brown and Brendan Sheean, who each chipped in one. The Red Hawks were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 14 penalty minutes. Minnehaha Academy was led by Ryan Evenson, who racked up two goals and one assist. Evenson scored the first of his two goals at 5:57 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Minnehaha Academy. Luke Erickson picked up the assist. Evenson's next tally made the score 3-2 Minnehaha Academy with 3:56 left in the second period. David Schuyler assisted on the tally. Minnehaha Academy also got points from Erik Madryga, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Minnehaha Academy received assists from Josh Radtke, who had one. Somerset WI's Jordan Langess stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Somerset WI incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Matt Sawyer rejected 42 shots on goal for the Red Hawks. Minnehaha Academy registered one goal on two power play opportunities.
