Buffalo holds on for 2-1 win against Monticello/Annandale/Maple LakeMonticello Arena Tue, Jan 15, 2013 The Buffalo Bison survived a determined comeback attempt by the Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake Moose on the way to a 2-1 win. A goal by Jack Patnode put Buffalo up 2-0 in the second period, but Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake pulled to within one on Reece Carstens's tally 7:54 into the third period. The Bison were paced by Patnode, who racked up one goal. Patnode scored short handed 12:45 into the second period to make the score Buffalo. Buffalo was on a disadvantage when Hunter Thompson went off the ice for elbowing. Aaron Rouse also scored for Buffalo. The Moose put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bison to score on any of their six power plays. Buffalo's defense shut down Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake's forwards for much of the game, and the Moose got off only 12 shots during the contest. In addition, Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake received assists from Drew Brockman and Colton Jones, who each chipped in one. The Bison's Mikey Otten stopped 11 shots out of the 12 that he faced. Buffalo incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Darien Jones recorded 27 saves for Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake. The Moose totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and had no power play opportunities.
