Picht nets hat trick, leads Morris/Benson Area to 9-4 win over Prairie Centre

Tanner Picht lifted the Morris/Benson Area Storm to a 9-4 victory with a hat trick against the Prairie Centre North Stars.

Picht's first goal came 14:04 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:19 into the third and at 10:34 into the third.

Morris/Benson Area kept Prairie Centre's goalie busy throughout the game, and Clay Deters made 33 saves on 42 shots. The Storm found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Morris/Benson Area has scored at the pace of 6.3 goals per game during the current campaign. The Storm capitalized on the North Stars' penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage.

Morris/Benson Area also got points from Andrew Rentz, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Darion Helberg, who also had one goal and one assist. Morris/Benson Area also got a goal from Corey Storck as well. More assists for Morris/Benson Area came via Lincoln Pahl, who had one, Riley Blake, who had two, Jordan Staples, who had three, and Brody Gimberlin, who had four.

Prairie Centre bested its season scoring average. This season, the North Stars average 1.9 goal per contest. Prairie Centre took advantage of Morris/Benson Area's penalties, tallying two goals off of three power play opportunities.

The North Stars were led by Preston Pung, who finished with one goal and three assists. Pung scored on the power play 7:06 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Morris/Benson Area. Kyle Rutten assisted on the tally. Jeremy Brever also scored for Prairie Centre. Other players who recorded assists for Prairie Centre were Ryan Ritter, who had one.

Kyle Kennedy made 14 saves for the Storm on 18 shots. Morris/Benson Area incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Prairie Centre ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major.
