Eden Prairie uses early goal to top Elk River, 4-2

The Eden Prairie Eagles took the lead against the Elk River Elks in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 4-2 victory.

Jack Keeley provided Eden Prairie with the game-winning tally when he scored 2:20 into the the first period.

The Eagles were led by Harry Pajor, who had one goal. Pajor scored short handed 6:45 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Eden Prairie. A cross checking call on Luc Snuggerud put Eden Prairie on the penalty kill. Hunter Warner provided the assist.

In a losing effort, Elk River was led by Chase Springman, who grabbed two goals. Springman scored the first of his two goals at 3:19 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Eden Prairie. Springman's next tally made the score 3-2 Eden Prairie with 19:46 left in the third period. Jacob Jaremko assisted on the tally.

The Eagles excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Eden Prairie put 34 shots on net during the contest, more than the 10.0 it averages per game.

Eden Prairie also got points from Steven Spinner, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Eden Prairie also got a goal from Andrew Knudsen as well. More assists for Eden Prairie came via Mason Bergh, who had two.

With 21 shots on target during the contest, the Elks exceeded the 3.5 shots they average per game this year. Elk River's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Elks are averaging 1.7 goal against for the season.

In addition, Elk River received assists from Peter Jones, who had one.

The Eagles' Jake Kielly stopped 19 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Eden Prairie incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. MacLean Berglove made 30 saves for Elk River on 34 shots. The Elks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
