Sprague nets hat trick, leads Achiever NE Academy to 9-2 win over WasecaEagan East Rink Tue, Feb 05, 2013 A hat trick by Cory Sprague was the highlight in Aces' 9-2 win against the Waseca Bluejays. Sprague got on the scoresheet 5:28 into the first period. He then added goals at 13:16 into the first and at 13:38 into the third.The Achiever NE Academy Aces' offense rang up 33 shots on Waseca's net. Achiever NE Academy surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Aces average 5.2 goals per contest. Achiever NE Academy also got points from Erik Kasner, who also had one goal and one assist, Ryan Finnegan, who also racked up one goal and three assists, and Tyler Thompson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Achiever NE Academy also got a goal from Victor Morgan as well. In addition, Achiever NE Academy received assists from Matt Minish, who had two and Cameron Hamlet and Travis Marsh, who contributed one a piece. The Bluejays managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Waseca finished below its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game. The Bluejays' offense were handcuffed by Achiever NE Academy's defensive play, and Waseca managed only 10 shots on goal during the game. The Bluejays were helped by Ben Weller, who racked up one goal. Weller scored 9:16 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Achiever NE Academy. Cody Ulfers provided the assist. Michael Priebe also scored for Waseca. Other players who recorded assists for Waseca were CJ Nordquis, who had two. Cameron Madrid rejected eight shots on goal for the Aces. Achiever NE Academy incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Zac Weichert recorded 24 saves for Waseca. The Bluejays registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
