Tartan beats South St.Paul 4-3 after comeback scare

The South St.Paul Packers tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Tartan Titans held on for a 4-3 victory.

Tartan took a 4-2 lead during the third period, only to have South St.Paul storm back on a Brenden Shanley goal 14:52 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Jake Jackson had two goals to lead the Titans to victory. Jackson's tallies came on the power play at 2:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Tartan and 6:38 into the second to make the score 2-1 Tartan.

Tartan additionally got points from Brady OSullivan, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Eric Olheiser also scored for Tartan. More assists for Tartan came via Jake Picht, Zach Ledman, Mike Winberg, and Michael Friberg, who each chipped in one.

The Packers kept Tartan's goalie busy throughout the game, and Gabe Splichal made 31 saves on 34 shots.

South St.Paul also got points from Dan Pietruzewski, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. South St.Paul also got a goal from Alec Miller as well. Other players who recorded assists for South St.Paul were Nick Jerhoff and Billy Brandecker, who contributed one a piece.

The Titans totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. Kyle Jacobs made 24 saves for South St.Paul on 28 shots. The Packers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
