Brandecker's hat trick boosts South St.Paul over Richfield, 8-0

Billy Brandecker lifted the South St.Paul Packers to an 8-0 victory with a hat trick against the Richfield Spartans.

Brandecker's first goal came 1:25 into the first period. He then added goals at 3:29 into the second and at 6:45 into the second.

South St.Paul excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Packers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. South St.Paul has scored at the pace of 2.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

South St.Paul additionally got points from Nick Jerhoff, who also grabbed one goal and three assists, Tommy Wisneski, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Dan Pietruzewski, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Brenden Shanley, who also finished with one goal and two assists. South St.Paul also got a goal from Cameron Buhl as well. In addition, South St.Paul received assists from Ben Krey and Jake Hill, who each chipped in one.

Richfield managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Spartans ended up below its season average of 7.0 penalty minutes per game. Richfield did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Spartans put an average of 2.5 pucks into the net per game. Richfield did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 11 shots on net to force 11 saves.

Grant Amelse recorded 11 saves for the Packers. South St.Paul incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Zach Ulmer made 18 saves for the Spartans on 26 shots.
