Huge game by Abrahamson boosts Hibbing / Chisholm over Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl, 6-3

The Hibbing / Chisholm Bluejackets' Derek Abrahamson had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing three assists in his team's 6-3 win over the Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl Blue Devils.

Abrahamson got on the board by slotting home a goal 12:41 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Hibbing / Chisholm. Abrahamson dished an assist on Eric Riihinen's goal that made the score 2-1 Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl at 9:55 into the first period. He then added assists on Billy Wherland's goal at 3:46 into the second and on Riihinen's goal at 6:21 into the second.

Hibbing / Chisholm forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and one major for 19 minutes in penalty time. The Bluejackets surpassed its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game. Hibbing / Chisholm found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Bluejackets have scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign. By firing 44 shots on goal, Hibbing / Chisholm exceeded the 0.6 shots it averages per game this year.

Hibbing / Chisholm also got points from Wherland, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Ty Birdsall also scored for Hibbing / Chisholm. More assists for Hibbing / Chisholm came via Adam Johnson and Colten Perkins, who each chipped in one.

Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl kept the Bluejackets' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Carlson made 31 saves on 34 shots.

The Blue Devils were helped by Andy Callister, who tallied one goal. Callister scored 5:21 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl. Jordan Przybylski picked up the assist. Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl additionally got points from Zach Voss, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl also got a goal from Louie Judnick as well. In addition, Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl received assists from Cole Babiracki, Zach Kalisch, and Alex Lackner, who contributed one a piece.

Hibbing / Chisholm registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl's Andrew Sederlund stopped 38 shots out of the 44 that he faced. The Blue Devils incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
