Mann nets hat trick, leads Grand Rapids to 6-2 win over Hibbing / Chisholm

A hat trick by Cody Mann was the highlight in Thunderhawks' 6-2 win against the Hibbing / Chisholm Bluejackets.

Mann got on the scoresheet 39 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 4:33 into the second and at 15:18 into the third.

The Grand Rapids Thunderhawks' goal total was higher than their season average. Grand Rapids averages 3.8 goals per game. The 40 shots that the Thunderhawks put on net surpassed Grand Rapids' average of 3.7 shots per game this season.

Grand Rapids also got points from Reid Holum, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Ben Monley also scored for Grand Rapids. More assists for Grand Rapids came via Zach Frazier, Jonah Bischoff, John Crippa, and Hunter Mackenhausen, who contributed one a piece and Avery Peterson and Eli Mangni, who each chipped in two.

Hibbing / Chisholm racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Bluejackets surpassed its season average of 13.0 penalty minutes per game. With 28 shots on target during the contest, Hibbing / Chisholm exceeded the 0.6 shots it averages per game this year.

The Bluejackets were helped by Colten Perkins, who racked up two goals. Perkins scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:22 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Grand Rapids. Ty Birdsall provided the assist. Perkins' next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Grand Rapids with 10:27 left in the second period. Adam Johnson picked up the assist. In addition, Hibbing / Chisholm received assists from Eric Gotz, who had one.

Hunter Shepard made 26 saves for the Thunderhawks on 28 shots. Grand Rapids incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tyler Carlson recorded 34 saves for Hibbing / Chisholm. The Bluejackets registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
