Peterson leads Grand Rapids over Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl, 7-3Miners Memorial Building Tue, Jan 29, 2013 The Grand Rapids Thunderhawks' Avery Peterson had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 7-3 win over the Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl Blue Devils. Peterson found the back of the net on the power play 12:01 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Grand Rapids and again while 28 seconds into the second to make the score 4-0 Grand Rapids.Grand Rapids' goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Thunderhawks average 3.6 goals per contest. Grand Rapids' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.
