Eveleth-Gilbert wins tough contest against Red Lake Falls, 3-2

The game between the Eveleth-Gilbert Golden Bears and the Red Lake Falls Eagles was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Eveleth-Gilbert emerged with a 3-2 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Cole Kopp secured the win for the Golden Bears with a goal in the third period.

Eveleth-Gilbert was sparked by Kopp, who tallied one goal and one assist. Kopp scored 14:24 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Eveleth-Gilbert. Sam Roberts picked up the assist.

The Golden Bears kept Red Lake Falls' goalie busy throughout the game, and Wyatt Casavan made 37 saves on 40 shots.

Daniel Rodriguez also scored for Eveleth-Gilbert. More assists for Eveleth-Gilbert came via Mitchell Huffman and Greg Fautch, who contributed one a piece.

The Eagles were led by Matt Eskeli, who finished with one goal and one assist. Eskeli scored 4:09 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Zack Landman provided the assist. Red Lake Falls also got a goal from Ryan Amiot as well.

Eveleth-Gilbert's Chad Hietela stopped 22 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Golden Bears incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Red Lake Falls totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
