Bestul's hat trick boosts Hibbing / Chisholm over Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl, 6-3

The Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl Blue Devils could not stop the Hibbing / Chisholm Bluejackets' Josh Bestul, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-3 win.

Bestul's first goal came 4:34 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:57 into the second and at 2:23 into the third.

Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl's power play was ineffective against Hibbing / Chisholm's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Bluejackets were often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time. Hibbing / Chisholm surpassed its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. The Bluejackets bested their season scoring average. This season, Hibbing / Chisholm averages 3.1 goals per contest. By firing 45 shots on goal, the Bluejackets exceeded the 0.9 shots they average per game this year.

Hibbing / Chisholm additionally got points from Adam Johnson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Derek Abrahamson also scored for Hibbing / Chisholm. In addition, Hibbing / Chisholm received assists from Billy Wherland and Eric Gotz, who each chipped in one and Cole Schafer and Colten Perkins, who contributed two a piece.

The Blue Devils were led by Colton Anderson, who had two goals and one assist. Anderson scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 11:35 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Hibbing / Chisholm. Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl earned a power play opportunity when Schafer was put in the box for tripping. Tom Ostergaard provided the assist. Anderson's next tally on the power play made the score 5-3 Hibbing / Chisholm with 4:31 left in the third period. Jordan Przybylski picked up the assist. Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl also got points from Przybylski, who also racked up one goal and one assist.

Tyler Carlson rejected 24 shots on goal for Hibbing / Chisholm. The Bluejackets registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Lucas Murray recorded 39 saves for the Blue Devils. Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
