Hibbing / Chisholm rolls over Albert Lea, 7-1

The Hibbing / Chisholm Bluejackets were firing on all cylinders against the Albert Lea Tigers, and when the final buzzer sounded Bluejackets emerged with a 7-1 win.

Hibbing / Chisholm got the win on the strength of a great game by Adam Johnson, who had one goal and two assists. Johnson scored 7:53 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Hibbing / Chisholm. Eric Gotz assisted on the tally.

The Bluejackets surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Hibbing / Chisholm averages 2.8 goals per game. The 36 shots that the Bluejackets put on net surpassed Hibbing / Chisholm's average of 1.2 shot per game this season.

Hibbing / Chisholm additionally got points from Gotz, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Hibbing / Chisholm included Billy Wherland, who had two and Cole Schafer, Mitch Vessel, and Colten Perkins, who each put in one. In addition, Hibbing / Chisholm received assists from Tyler Carlson, who had two and Derek Abrahamson, Eric Riihinen, Taylor Persson, Josh Bestul, and Kylan Yoki, who each chipped in one.

Albert Lea put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bluejackets to score on any of their three power plays.

The Tigers were led by Kohl Kriewall, who scored the team's only goal. Kriewall scored 12:09 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Hibbing / Chisholm. Alex Claassen picked up the assist.

Carlson recorded 16 saves for Hibbing / Chisholm. The Bluejackets incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Albert Lea's Garret Matz stopped 29 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Tigers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
