Koepke's hat trick boosts Hermantown over Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl, 9-3Miners Memorial Building Tue, Dec 18, 2012 A hat trick by Travis Koepke was the highlight in Hawks' 9-3 win against the Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl Blue Devils. Koepke notched his first tally 3:38 into the first period. He then added goals at 16:17 into the first and at 4:32 into the second.The Hermantown Hawks kept Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl's goalie busy throughout the game, and Andrew Sederlund made 51 saves on 60 shots. Hermantown's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Hermantown additionally got points from Jake Zeleznikar, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Hermantown also had goals scored by Kori Ochs, who had two and Neal Pionk, Chris Benson, and Grant Sega, who each put in one. More assists for Hermantown came via Ryan Kero, who had one, Bo Gronseth, who had three, and Joe Muehlbauer, Nate Pionk, Zach Kramer, and Scott Wasbotten, who each chipped in two. The Blue Devils were helped by Alex Lackner, who finished with one goal. Lackner scored 6:25 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Travis Kemp assisted on the tally. Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl also got points from Zach Voss, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Kemp, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl received assists from Andy Callister, Zach Kalisch, and Tom Ostergaard, who contributed one a piece. Adam Smith rejected 12 shots on goal for the Hawks. Hermantown incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
