Forest Lake beats Grand Rapids 2-0 as Garcia gains shutout

Jesse Garcia made 27 saves to complete the shutout and led the Forest Lake Rangers to a 2-0 win against the Grand Rapids Thunderhawks.

Forest Lake was led by Trevor Thompson, who tallied one goal. Thompson scored 8:05 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Forest Lake. Jack Schmidt provided the assist.

The Rangers stifled Grand Rapids' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Forest Lake's offense operated below it season average. The Rangers put an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game.

Cody Rogala also scored for Forest Lake. In addition, Forest Lake received assists from Brandon Rogers, who had one.

The Thunderhawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Forest Lake incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Hunter Shepard made 28 saves for Grand Rapids on 30 shots. The Thunderhawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
