Hibbing / Chisholm boosted by Carlson's play in net, beats International Falls 3-1Hibbing Memorial Arena Tue, Nov 27, 2012 A stellar performance between the pipes by Tyler Carlson helped the Hibbing / Chisholm Bluejackets defeat the International Falls Broncos, 3-1. Hibbing / Chisholm pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 37 penalty minutes. The Bluejackets were paced by Cole Maki, who finished with one goal and one assist. Maki scored 9:07 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Hibbing / Chisholm. Derek Abrahamson assisted on the tally. Hibbing / Chisholm's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven International Falls power plays. International Falls was unable to stop the Bluejackets from sending pucks towards the net, and Hibbing / Chisholm eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Adam Johnson also scored for Hibbing / Chisholm. In addition, Hibbing / Chisholm received assists from Josh Bestul, who had one. The Broncos could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game. International Falls was led by Erik Lassila, who scored the team's only goal. Lassila scored 2:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 International Falls. Lucas Debenedet picked up the assist. Carlson recorded 29 saves for the Bluejackets. Hibbing / Chisholm registered one goal on six power play opportunities. The Bluejackets ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Billy Wherland was ejected from the game. The Broncos' Wesley Gunnerson stopped 34 shots out of the 37 that he faced.
