The Mound-Westonka Whitehawks tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Hibbing / Chisholm Bluejackets would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

Hibbing / Chisholm took a 3-1 lead during the second period, only to have Mound-Westonka storm back on a Jack Brandstetter goal 3:32 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Bluejackets were sparked by Josh Bestul, who racked up one goal and one assist. Bestul scored 7:58 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Hibbing / Chisholm. Derek Abrahamson assisted on the tally.

Hibbing / Chisholm's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Mound-Westonka power plays. The Bluejackets' offense rang up 31 shots on the Whitehawks' net.

Hibbing / Chisholm additionally got points from Eric Riihinen, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Hibbing / Chisholm also got a goal from Adam Johnson as well. More assists for Hibbing / Chisholm came via Ty Birdsall, who had one.

Mound-Westonka made Hibbing / Chisholm's netminders to work all game long, launching 36 shots and forcing 33 saves. Isiah Dilley made 22 stops and AJ Allison made 11. The Whitehawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Mound-Westonka was helped by Charlie Curti, who racked up one goal. Curti scored 7:08 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Andy Seats picked up the assist. Broten Togstad also scored for Mound-Westonka. In addition, Mound-Westonka received assists from Nick Tschida, Sander Lee, Hunter Smith, and Jeremy Schulz, who contributed one a piece.

The Bluejackets incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Seats rejected 27 shots on goal for the Whitehawks. Mound-Westonka ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major.
