East Grand Forks blows out Crookston, 7-2Crookston Civic Arena Thu, Dec 20, 2012 The East Grand Forks Green Wave's Dixon Bowen had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing three assists in his team's 7-2 win over the Crookston Pirates. Bowen got on the board by slotting home a goal 9:48 into the first period to make the score 2-0 East Grand Forks. Tommy Hajicek picked up the assist. Bowen dished an assist on Eddie Eades' goal that made the score 1-0 East Grand Forks at 6:30 into the first period. He then added assists on Hajicek's goal at 16:23 into the second and on Hajicek's goal at 14:55 into the third.East Grand Forks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Crookston to score on any of its three power plays. The Green Wave got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. East Grand Forks additionally got points from Luke Beito, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Hajicek, who also had two goals and one assist, and Eades, who also finished with one goal and two assists. East Grand Forks also got a goal from Colton Poolman as well. More assists for East Grand Forks came via Nick Korynta and Kolton Aubol, who each chipped in one. The Pirates excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Crookston's offense operated below it season average. The Pirates average 4.9 goals per game. Crookston was led by Ethan Mercil, who racked up one goal. Mercil scored 9:22 into the second period to make the score 3-1 East Grand Forks. Ryan Edevold provided the assist. Doug Larson also scored for Crookston. Other players who recorded assists for Crookston were Kal Salentiny and Ryan Bittner, who contributed one a piece. Tanner Lindstrom rejected 19 shots on goal for East Grand Forks. The Green Wave incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Adam Huglen recorded 22 saves for the Pirates. Crookston incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
