Detroit Lakes beats Northern Lakes 3-2 after comeback scare

The Northern Lakes Lightning tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Detroit Lakes Lakers held on for a 3-2 victory.

Detroit Lakes took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have Northern Lakes storm back on a Kyle Narveson goal 14:51 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Lakers were led by Ryan Deconcini, who racked up one goal and one assist. Deconcini scored on the power play 13:38 into the third period to make the score Detroit Lakes. Austin Rusness assisted on the tally.

Detroit Lakes' offense rang up 42 shots on the Lightning's net.

Detroit Lakes also got points from Rusness, who also registered one goal and one assist. Detroit Lakes also got a goal from Michael Hermann as well. More assists for Detroit Lakes came via Kyle Herman, who had one.

Northern Lakes was helped by Ben Moe, who had one goal. Moe scored on the power play 2:57 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Alex Galligan provided the assist. In addition, Northern Lakes received assists from Gaven Bickford, Derrek French, and Jake Hyytinen, who contributed one a piece.

MacKenzie Steele made 27 saves for the Lakers on 29 shots. Detroit Lakes avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored two goals off of zero power plays. Mitch Stangel recorded 39 saves for the Lightning. Northern Lakes finished the contest with no penalties and went 1-for-0 with the man advantage.
