Morris/Benson Area downs Northern Lakes in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

The Morris/Benson Area Storm pulled out a 6-5 (OT) overtime victory over the Northern Lakes Lightning on a clutch goal by Taner Gimberlin.

Morris/Benson Area kept Northern Lakes' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mitch Stangel made 28 saves on 34 shots.

The Storm were helped by Mac Beyer, who tallied three goals. Morris/Benson Area also got points from Tanner Picht, who also tallied two goals and two assists and Gimberlin, who also racked up one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Morris/Benson Area came via Eric Johnson, who had one and Jordan Staples, who had three.

The Lightning struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 14 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

Northern Lakes was led by Kegan Couture, who had two goals and two assists. Couture scored the first of his two goals at 5:57 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Northern Lakes. Ben Moe picked up the assist. Couture's next tally made the score 4-3 Northern Lakes with 17:27 left in the third period. A high sticking call on Kyle Narveson put the Lightning on the penalty kill. Northern Lakes additionally got points from Moe, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Aspen Florey also scored for Northern Lakes. Other players who recorded assists for Northern Lakes were Nick Blanchette and Alex Galligan, who contributed one a piece.

Morris/Benson Area's Kyle Kennedy stopped 24 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Storm incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Northern Lakes registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
