Florey's goals lift Northern Lakes to 7-2 victory over Prairie Centre

Aspen Florey had two goals to lead the Northern Lakes Lightning to a 7-2 victory over the Prairie Centre North Stars.

Florey scored on the power play at 12:49 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Northern Lakes and again while short handed 15:36 into the second to make the score 4-2 Northern Lakes.

Northern Lakes managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Lightning ended up below its season average of 9.0 penalty minutes per game. Northern Lakes forced Prairie Centre goalie Clay Deters to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. The Lightning's goal total was higher than their season average. Northern Lakes averages 3.9 goals per game.

Northern Lakes additionally got points from Kyle Narveson, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Ben Moe, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Gaven Bickford, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Kegan Couture, who also tallied one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Northern Lakes also got a goal from Nick Blanchette as well. More assists for Northern Lakes came via Nick Olson and Derrek French, who each chipped in one.

The North Stars were helped by Noah Schmitz, who tallied one goal and one assist. Schmitz scored 6:04 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Preston Pung assisted on the tally. Prairie Centre also got points from Cody Steward, who also registered one goal and one assist.

Mitch Stangel rejected 22 shots on goal for the Lightning. Northern Lakes registered two goals on zero power play opportunities. Prairie Centre's Deters stopped 31 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The North Stars avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored one goal off of one power plays.
