Moren's goals lift Park Rapids to 6-1 victory over Northern Lakes

Behind a great game by Frank Moren, who had two goals, the Park Rapids Panthers defeated the Northern Lakes Lightning, 6-1.

Moren found the back of the net 12:35 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 2:55 into the second to make the score 2-1 Park Rapids.

Park Rapids forced Northern Lakes goalie Mitch Stangel to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. The Panthers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Park Rapids averages 3.2 goals per game. The Panthers' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

Park Rapids additionally got points from Ian Johnson, who also finished with two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Park Rapids also got a goal from Luke Jaeger as well. In addition, Park Rapids received assists from Drew Bade, who had one, Kiefer Miller, who had two, and Noah Macpherson, who had three.

The Lightning could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Northern Lakes puts an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game.

The Lightning were led by Hunter Leslie, who scored the team's only goal. Leslie scored on the power play 9:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Northern Lakes. Gaven Bickford picked up the assist.

Park Rapids' Cody Brumbaugh stopped 19 shots out of the 20 that he faced. The Panthers avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored one goal off of zero power plays. Stangel recorded 32 saves for Northern Lakes. The Lightning ended with no penalties and went 1-for-0 on the power play.
